About us

PolitikUP is an independent project, born in Italy, for exploring political ideas in a simple, open way, with no sign-up.

At its heart is a test that places your ideas on thirteen axes, from the economy to immigration, and compares them with 81 ideologies, 226 figures from politics and political thought, 166 parties from 20 countries and 74 nations of today and of the past. Around the test there are profiles, maps and games to play with friends.

We are not linked to any party, movement or political funder. The positions of parties, figures and ideologies are estimates built on documented sources: for parties we start from the expert ratings of the Chapel Hill Expert Survey, updated with platforms, statements and votes; for figures and ideologies we use writings, platforms and actions. The method is explained on the How it works and method page.

The test needs no account and no personal data: the calculation runs in your browser and your results stay on your device. Our statistics are anonymous.

The site is free and is funded by donations and a few ads, shown only outside the test. For reports, ideas, mistakes or a missing figure, write to us at info@politikup.it.
